GOMEL, 7 March (BelTA) – The events in Ukraine will not affect the implementation of the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation program (EaPTC), chief of the group of experts working on the program Alexei Sekarev said at a briefing in Gomel on 7 March, BelTA has learnt. The conference of the EaPTC partner regions will be held in Tbilisi, instead of Odessa, in April. However, the relocation of the conference will not affect the agenda and deadlines of the projects stipulated by the program, he noted.

GOMEL, 3 March (BelTA) – The number of citizens, who crossed the Belarusian-Ukrainian border in February 2014, is about 27% lower than the number registered in February 2013, BelTA learned from Igor Moroz, Chief of the Gomel Border Group, at the government session held by the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee on 3 March. The number of vehicles that crossed the border in February went down, too.

GOMEL OBLAST, 26 February (BelTA) – The Armed Forces of Belarus have a full-fledged and smoothly operating battalion of air defense missile systems Tor-M2, BelTA learned from Belarusian Defense Minister Yuri Zhadobin. During a tactical exercise involving units of the 120th Air Defense Missile Brigade of the Western Tactical Command of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense in Gomel Oblast on 26 February the third air defense missile battery Tor-M2 performed live firing.

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) - People's Artist of Belarus, winner of the State Prize of Belarus Gavriil Vashchenko died aged 86. The memorial service will be held at the Arts Palace center in Minsk on 15 February, BelTA learned from the Vashchenko Art Gallery. Gavriil Vashchenko was born on 20 June 1928 in the village of Chkalovichi, Bragin District, Gomel Oblast. Gavriil Vashchenko made a huge contribution to the establishment and development of the Belarusian school of monumental and decorative art.

GOMEL, 13 February (BelTA) - Cooperation between scientists and specialists of Belarus and Japan in matters concerning radiation safety after emergencies at nuclear power plants will soon reach a higher level, BelTA learned from Nikolai Vasilkov, Head of the Healthcare Office of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. In Hiroshima the city's university and the Belarusian national science to practice center for radiation medicine and human ecology signed an agreement on joint research efforts that will allow studying effects of small doses of radiation on humans in detail.
