GOMEL, 1 august (BelTA) – Teacher from Gomel Yulia Filonenko took second place in the competition on the best history lesson among young teachers, World War One on the map of the Union State. The award ceremony was held at the Moscow Lomonosov State University, BelTA learnt from the Gomel City Hall.

VETKA, 29 May (BelTA) – Belarus welcomes any kind of cooperation in alleviating consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and is thankful to the United Nations Development Program, Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko told media in the town of Vetka on 29 May. The Minister accompanied UNDP Administrator, UN Under Secretary General Helen Clark during her visit to Gomel Oblast, BelTA has learned.

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Cooperation of the United Nations Development Program with the Belarus government in overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl disaster has been excellent at all times and at all stages. The opinion was voiced by Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, UN Under Secretary General Helen Clark in Vetka, Gomel Oblast on 29 May as part of her visit to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

GOMEL, 17 April (BelTA) - The Mozyr District Executive Committee and the People's Government of the city of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, signed a protocol of intent on trade, economic, cultural and social cooperation. The document signing ceremony took place in Mozyr on 17 April during the official visit of the Chinese delegation to Gomel Oblast, BelTA has learnt. The delegation headed by Cao Xinping, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Xuzhou, includes representatives of the authorities, banking institutions and industrial companies, including the chairpersons of the board of a pharmaceutical company and a company producing construction machinery.

GOMEL, 17 April (BelTA) ? The book "Gomel Guberniya: how it all began. Unknown pages? has been published to the order of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and under the general editorship of Gomel Oblast Governor Vladimir Dvornik, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. The book presents the historical facts relating to the little-known period of Gomel Gubernia (1919-1926) when most of the south-eastern part of Belarus was part of Russia.
