GOMEL, 18 March (BelTA) - The active involvement of citizens in elections of members of municipal councils of deputies is a condition for forming an effective system of local government and self-administration. It is the system in which voters and deputies are united by common concerns and goals to the utmost degree, BelTA learned from Anzhelika Dorogokupets, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.

GOMEL, 10 January (BelTA) - Voter turnout at the forthcoming elections to the local councils of deputies will largely depend on the work of mass media, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told reporters in Gomel on 10 January. She took part in the oblast session to discuss preparations and conduct of the local elections, BelTA has learnt. According to the CEC Chairperson, a broader coverage of the elections will result in voters? better awareness of electoral processes in general.

TUROV, 18 October (BelTA) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko approved of the plans of the Turov dairy factory management to expand the raw material base the enterprise needs. The current operation and development prospects of the company that makes cheese varieties previously unavailable in Belarus were discussed during the working trip of the Belarusian head of state to Zhitkovichi District, Gomel Oblast on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

TUROV, 18 October (BelTA) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to maximize the efficiency of use of fertile lands in Polesie. Large-scale production of import-substituting crops, like horticultural products, is among the options. The head of state made this statement as he visited OAO Turovshchina in Zhitkovichi District, Gomel Oblast, on 18 October, BelTA has learnt. The President spoke about ways to make the most of the lands where the soil fertility is extremely high, which are quite few in Belarus.
