GOMEL, 22 January (BelTA) - The boys choir from the Svetlogorsk arts school has been invited to Sochi to take part in the cultural program of the Paralympic Games, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee. Young Belarusian talents will become part of the project "Russian Choirs to the Sport of the World? scheduled in Sochi on 14-17 March. To get casted the Svetlogorsk choir took part in Russia?s Assembly of Choirs titled Singing for the World held in Tuapse in 2013.

GOMEL, 20 December (BelTA)-The Holy Faces of Christ and the Mother of God? exhibition will open in the Rumyantsevs-Paskevichs Palace in Gomel on 26 December, BelTA has learnt from the museum. The exposition will feature icons, books, and copper castings from the funds of the museum of the Rumyantsevs-Paskevichs Palace and private collections. Specialists say that the icons represent different painting traditions, but have the common theme of Christ and the Mother of God central to Christian art.

GOMEL, 31 October (BelTA) - The exhibition "Not to Forget..." will open in the Gomel branch of the Vetka Museum of Old Believers and Belarusian Traditions on 1 November, BelTA learned from the museum. The exhibition is part of the project "Voices of Gone Villages" which is dedicated to the villages that disappeared after the Chernobyl tragedy. The exhibition will showcase the unique items of icon painting, minting, book art, old wooden architecture of the town of Svyatsk of the 18th - early 20th centuries.

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus is expanding into Gomel. The agreement on its new branch was signed by Vladimir Gridyushko, Director General of the Opera and Ballet Theater, and Ivan Kovalenko, director of the cultural and sports center at Gomel Office of the Belarusian Railways, BelTA learnt from the theater. According to the five-year document, the Bolshoi Theater will stage plays and concert programs at the cultural center of railway workers.
